Personal Protective Equipment 101

There are many things including debris, mold, pollutants and electrical hazards you may come across when starting the process of home demo and restoration. Before even stepping foot on site, it’s important to be outfitted with the proper protection.

  • Lungs - Mask with a filter rated N100 or P100; Dust masks won’t cut it!.
  • Head - Hat with brim or hard hat if falling debris is likely.
  • Eyes - Protective goggles or safety glasses.
  • Ears - Earplugs if exposed to extreme noise volume.
  • Hands - Heavy-duty waterproof work gloves.
  • Body - Long sleeves and pants or disposable protective coverall.
  • Feet - Non-skid shoe covers, work boots or rubber rain boots.

Just as crucial as putting equipment on before entering a job site, so is cautiously removing and washing all gear afterward. This helps prevent the spread of anything harmful to which you may have been exposed.
