Parade of Homes: Behind the Design

What a whirlwind the first weekend of the 2025 Parade of Homes was—but it only got better. I had the pleasure of working the second Saturday of the Parade, representing Holmes Building Materials and getting to walk guests through a very special home I helped bring to life.

This wasn’t just any home, it was a special project I had the honor of working on from the ground up alongside Rabalais Homes, LLC. From our first design consultation to the final walk-through, every detail was handpicked to reflect both form and function, beauty and comfort. And the response from visitors? Absolutely incredible.

A Designer’s Dream Collaboration

Working closely with Rabalais Homes, LLC was a true creative partnership. Their commitment to craftsmanship and quality made it easy to dream big—and then deliver. Together with the homeowner, we curated a palette and materials that felt timeless yet fresh. Here's a peek at what went into the design

Paint Selections: We chose warm, welcoming neutrals with subtle undertones to complement natural light and enhance the open-concept layout.

Flooring: A mix of European white oak and durable tile gave the home a cohesive feel, marrying elegance with everyday durability.

Lighting: Statement pendants in the kitchen & chapel, soft sconces in the master bathroom, and layered lighting throughout created depth, drama, and a warm ambiance.

Finishing Touches: From cabinet hardware to plumbing fixtures, every selection was intentional. We even included a few custom elements that had guests asking, “Where did you get that?”

One of the most unique features was a private chapel, custom-designed as a serene space for reflection and prayer. Soft, calming tones, elegant lighting, and a beautiful custom stained glass insert made the room feel sacred and peaceful—truly a highlight of the tour.

Seeing It All Come Together

There’s nothing quite like watching people experience a space you’ve helped create. I loved hearing the “oohs” and “ahhs” as guests explored the home, lingered in the kitchen, and imagined themselves living in each perfectly styled room. It was more than just showing off trends—it was showing how thoughtful design makes a house feel like home.
