Are you stuck inside trying to stay warm? Spend a few minutes tending to some indoor home repairs. Here are a few simple tasks that will get you up and moving while helping maintain your home.
- Droopy towel racks or toilet paper holders
Unscrew the fixture and check the anchors. Replace any drywall anchors with stronger supports then re-secure the fixtures; after all, you use these holders every day.
- Squeaky door hinges
Pull out your powdered graphite or WD-40 and spray alongside the hinge pins of your noisy doors. Venture through each room, inspecting all interior doors and cabinet doors.
- Tighten loose handles
While checking your cabinets, be sure to tighten any loose screws on the hinges or handles. If the screw simply spins in place, attempt a quick repair with a toothpick and glue or a larger screw.
- Replace batteries
If you did not change them at the beginning of the year, spend a few moments replacing the batteries in your fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Test the units and move on to remote controls and entertainment devices.
