Wrapping Up: 2024 Design Review

As the year draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the milestones and accomplishments that have shaped the past twelve months. 2024 was a year of creativity, collaboration, and transformation, with new construction projects taking center stage. From breaking ground to final decision making, the journey was both challenging and rewarding. Here’s a look back at the highlights and lessons learned from a year dedicated to creating dream homes from the ground up.

Diving Into New Construction: A Year of Opportunities

This year, the focus on new construction projects offered a unique opportunity to design spaces from a blank canvas. Working closely with salesmen, contractors and homeowners, I was able to coordinate and work with timelines, material choices, and overall aesthetics right from the start. It was fulfilling to help clients design homes that reflect their personalities and needs, ensuring every space told a story unique to them.

Trends That Defined the Year

New construction projects often provide a glimpse into emerging trends in residential design. Here are some of the key trends that shaped my work this year:

  1. Open-Concept Living: Homeowners continued to prioritize open, flowing spaces that connect living, dining, and kitchen areas.
  2. Home Office: Well-designed home office spaces that blend seamlessly with living areas.
  3. Butler’s Pantry: A functional and stylish design element that clients love that enhances the overall flow and aesthetic of their home.
  4. Personalized Design: Homeowners sought unique, custom touches—whether it was a bespoke tile pattern or a statement paint color or wallpaper.
  5. Statement Lighting: Bold, sculptural lighting pieces that act as focal points in rooms.

Lessons Learned

The biggest lesson of the year? Communication is key. Open, consistent dialogue with clients and teams ensured that everyone stayed aligned on the vision and progress. Building trust and fostering strong relationships helped navigate the inevitable hiccups with ease.

Celebrating the Wins

Wrapping up the year, it’s important to celebrate the wins—big and small.
Whether it was the excitement of hearing a homeowner say they were
moving into their new home or receiving heartfelt feedback from a client, these moments made all the hard work worthwhile.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As I reflect on 2024, I’m filled with gratitude for the clients who entrusted me with their homes and the talented trades I collaborated with along the way. The lessons and experiences from this year have fueled my passion and inspired me to dream even bigger for the year ahead.

Looking forward, I’m excited to explore new opportunities, embrace emerging trends, and continue transforming spaces into homes that tell a story. With several exciting projects already in the pipeline, 2025 promises to be another year of creativity and growth.

To my clients, builders and work family: thank you for being a part of this journey. Here’s to another year of beautiful designs and unforgettable moments. Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a bright start to the new year!
